About RM Condor
45 (four five) Commando RM have been based at Condor near Arbroath since the early 1970s although the base was first constructed as a
Fleet Air Arm base in 1938, when it was known as HMS Condor. 45 Commando Royal Marines is part of The Royal Marines' 3 Commando Brigade - the Royal Navy's amphibious infantry on permanent readiness to deploy across the globe; a core component of the UK's Joint Rapid Reaction Force. Today the base also houses 7 (Sphinx) Battery Royal Artillery, part of 29th Commando Regiment Royal Artillery.
RM Condor has many facilities for service personnel and their families, There is a fully equipped multi-gym and fitness suite, 2 rugby pitches, dry ski slope, sauna, 2 football pitches, 9-hole golf course, 2 squash courts, a climbing wall. RM Condor also has a football team, boxing team, diving club, biathlon team, sailing club and mountaineering club. RM Condor base also has an Education Centre with internet facilities, Naafi/Spar shop, tailoress and a Chaplaincy
